I used to love bright, busy, vibrant wallpaper/background on my phone. They were fun but made the locked view/home screen busy, especially at night, even with the brightness turned down. So for years I went with a solid black background and never changed it. Now I find myself drawn to subtle textures in dark shades of gray: easy on the eyes, but not completely void of definition and contrast. It’s an improvement over a solid color which always felt weird (A brightly lit black? Give me a Spinal Tap black). Functional but not demanding. So here are 15 that I made and have been enjoying. Do what you will with them (click through for a 1350 x 2400 jpg file). They are all nature shots: rocks, water, sky, etc.

This is where I share things that I've made or collaborated on, not necessarily “work” per se, and good old fashioned blogroll links of interesting things elsewhere. I don't always send out newsletters (maybe 4-5 times per year) but when I do, they're good.
